CBS reportedly passed on Nancy Drew because it was “too female”
So much for a modern, non-white take on Nancy Drew. The update was set to star Iranian-Spanish actress Sarah Shahi, but CBS passed because, despite testing well, it "skewed too female.” The network was deciding between Drew and Doubt — and went with the latter, which at least gives this a silver lining.
